Half-day ZEE-O village

Get stupefied with pagodas, the “temple-out-drive” to ZEE-O village would give you a different experience.  It’s about 45mintues away from BAGAN and the best to see rural life of Myanmar.  Leaving temples and pagodas behind, the first stop you are going to make is at a toddy-tree forest.  You can see how a climber collects toddy-sap.  It’s from this sap they prepare palm-sugar and toddy-candy, a traditional Myanmar desert.  Rice-wine making process could also be observed.  Continue to Zee-O village.

The sandy road winds through palm trees, zigzag plantations where villagers grow pea-nut, sesame and other season crops.  Arriving the village, have a look into Ingyinn (Shorea siamensis) forest believed to be protected by Nats (guardian spirits).  Then, explore the village. In the middle of the ground, you will see a thousand years old tamarind tree for which the village is famous for.  Women and kids come close to you.  They say hello wearing smiles while asking if you may need help.  You are likely to be led by a village volunteer who is so enthusiastic to explain things and what is happening.  Don’t refuse to visit into a local house and try a cup of warm tea.  Spend an hour there and drive back to BAGAN.
