Full-day TWANTE Tidbits

Pick up in the morning to Yangon River.  Get onto a ferry to DHALA. Visit the market with veggie and fruit, meat and fish, cooking stuff, varieties of rice and noodle, etc.  Good to try out a warm cup of Myanmar sweetie tea prepared from condensed milk.

After the fresh-up, jump into the car and drive to TWANTE.  Bumpy road, yet interesting ride, you can see rural life.  People live in the rice field, bamboo houses and many small pagodas spread out along the way.  They are so friendly and invite you to drop in their houses. Help yourself, talk to them and understand their life.  A stop at BAUNGDAWGYOKE, the pagoda in the lake with many living snakes, would be very interesting. Different sizes of snakes are all over.  They are vegetarians and drink only milk!  Arrive in TWANTE. This small town is famous for pottery.  We will walk into small lanes where you can see many traditional workshops in progress.  Boys and girls manually turning the pottery-wheel, their hands and finger moving artistically, kilns with various sizes of earthenware, the environs is so magical.  (Optional) Take a horse-cart to the market and SHWESANDAW pagoda.  Drive back to Yangon, taking a different way through industrial zone.
