Arrive in Yangon, welcomed by our representative/guide and transferred to the hotel. Evening visit SHWEDAGON, the landmark of Yangon, plated with gold from top to bottom. The golden mountain rocketing to the sky from a hill, pilgrims kneeling down on the platform, offering candle/incent/flower in its vicinity, prayers saying the Holy Script in peace and silence, etc. this place is known to the world as a Waking, Winking & Wonder of Myanmar majestically flying up 100m from the ground. So much to see in this giant pagoda curved with lots of rest-houses and shrines around. Overnight in Yangon.
Tawin Garden Hotel or Similar (1N)
Fly to Mandalay (approx: 1hr 20min) after breakfast. On the way to hotel, stop by AMARAPURA, the city of Immortality. Have a walk on the two-century old U-BEIN teak bridge crossing the TAUNGTAMAN lake. After, observe a thousand monks taking their last meal of the day at 10:00 am in total silence. Take a tour of MANDALAY by visiting gold leaf making work-place and see how those razor-thin gold-leaf is being made by hand in a traditional way. Then drive to MAHAMUNI PAGODA. Continue visit the ROYAL PALACE ground; KUTHODAW pagoda, known as the world's largest book for its 729 marble slabs inscribed with the Buddha's Doctrine; SHWENANDAW (Golden Palace Monastery), adorned with intricate wood-carvings. Let’s call it a day after enjoying the panoramic view of the city from legendary MANDALAY HILL. Overnight in Mandalay.
Shweingyinn Hotel or Similar (1N)
After breakfast at hotel, drive to Maymyo (Pyinoolwin) for 2hrs, set atop 1000m above the sea level. a former hill-station during the British time and christened after the colonel May. Many red-brick colonial residence can still be seen. Visit the local market and sample the finest coffee at a cafe for which the town is famous for. We will have a leisurely walk in the Botanical Garden covering 170acres of land and 70acres of water. It was first founded in the year 1915-16 by one British botanist named Mr. Roger. Optional ride with horse-drawn cart can be arranged to visit the Candacraig (Thiri Myaing) built in 1904 by British Bombay Burma Timber Company for their expatriates. Drive to Peik-chin-myaung cave situated about 10miles from the city and back to Pyinoolwin. Overnight in Pyinoolwin (Maymyo).
Hotel Aster or Similar (1N)
Transfer to train station after breakfast. Train will arrive approximately 07:00am in Pyinoolwin from Mandalay. It will take approx 2hrs on the train to see the Shan mountains. There give you a chance to see the local people on the train. No modern luxury on the train except simple fixed wooden chair to sit on. But, it's really rewarding after passing the world famous GOTHEIK viaduct which is a magnificent steel bridge connecting 1000ft river gorge. The bridge was built in 1903 and described as an engineering marvel. Drop off at Naungpein where your car awaits. Continue drive to Hsipaw and overnight.
Riverside @ Hsipaw or Similar (1N)
After breakfast, walk out of the guest house for 5minute to Doakhtawaddy River. A motorized boat awaits you for about an hour up-stream excursion. Stop by the river and walk for another 30min to Konethar Village where there is a 150yrs old Shan monastery. On the way, along the river as well as on the walking way, you can see so many plantations such as orange, papaya, pineapple and varieties of vegetable. Lunch will be in the village with traditional Shan noodle. After seeing the rural way of life, walk back to your boat. Upon arrival, up the river to the confluence for 20min, the birth place of Doakhtawaddy, where the Nama river meets the Namatu river. Take some pics there for the beautiful scenery and have a bath if you wish. Downstream back to Hispaw and overnight.
Take a 5hr trek should you want to. One hour trek after breakfast will take you to the Waterfall along the rice field and orchard on mountain slope. It's about 100ft high with a nice pool at its base. Can have a splendid view of ancient pagoda, Shan royal tomb and lime stone cave nearby. Onward trek to Shan villages. Lunch will be in one of the villages with Shan noodle or simple fried rice. You may see some small household traditional industry such as blacksmith, bamboo-fan, etc. We will see 4/5 villages along the way back to Hsipaw. It takes about 20min trek from one village to another.
Riverside @ Hsipaw or Similar (1N)
After breakfast, drive to Lashio. It’s the capital of northern Shan State. Used to be a terminal of Old Burma Road linking Southwestern China and Myanmar (Burma) in the late 1930s, Lashio today is a strategic town for Sino-Myanmar border trade. Visit a Chinese temple, Pyi Lone Chan Thar and Mansu Pagoda said to be 250yrs old. Enjoy the view over town from Sasana 2500 Pagoda. Take an evening walk to the night market-street and overnight in Lashio.
Golden Hill Hotel or Similar (1N)
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Muse. Passing many villages on the way, we can visit a natural hot spring nearby if time permit. Arrive in Muse, a border town to China (Ruili), from where most of Chinese materials come into the country. Free to explore the town by yourself. Overnight in Muse.
